RBD POTTERY.
This is us. RBD Pottery.
Rachel and Jamin Bultman with our two daughters Quinn & Clover
We make pottery. And when we're not making pottery we're dreaming of camping, hiking, or gardening - basically anything we can do outside!
What does RBD Pottery Stand for?
Rachel Bultman Design! It all started in 2014 when we first were married as a side hustle for Rachel as Jamin worked in graphic design. Rachel had taken some ceramics and sculpture classes while working on an art degree at the University of Anchorage Alaska. When we got married she interned at a studio and started selling her mugs in Alaska. At the beginning of 2018, Jamin quit his job and ever since then we've been making pottery and home decor together full time. We now live in the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina where we continue to be inspired by nature and get to create our work from home.
We take time to make each piece with care and intention, checking each piece carefully for flaws before we sell it. We want to carefully walk the line between precise craftsmanship and handmade art. Each piece is hand-thrown, hand-painted, and hand-carved making each a unique work of art. We love combining pieces of art with pottery that is durable enough you can use on a daily basis.
Why do we love pottery?
Every morning before we do anything else Rachel and I sit together with our cup of coffee and talk about what our day looks like, what we need to work on, and pray about the things that we are working towards and for the people we love. Our mugs are part of that pause and experience.
Gathering inspiration from leaves, flowers and adventures outside is how we create the the designs behind our products. Connecting with nature and finding peace away from our busy lives re-focuses us and reminds us that life is still beautiful and full of wonder. Nature brings us closer to our great artist - Jesus, creator of beauty and source of our peace when we feel anxious and overwhelmed.
We want our pottery to bring you joy and peace; to be part of your home, your family, and your quiet moments alone. Bring a mug in your car on your way to work; put a Pour Over by the fire while you camp to keep it warm; get your new plant a special planter that shows off all of its elegance; store some fresh baked cookies or tea in a jar. We hope our work is part of you taking the time to enjoy those small moments, and finding things that make you smile and enjoy the life around you.
